Privacy Policy

StepKey ("the app") is made by ExpertVault ("we", "us"). StepKey turns your daily steps into screen time: the apps you choose stay locked until you walk. This policy explains what the app stores, where, and how you can delete it.
The short version: everything stays on your phone. StepKey has no account sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We do not run a server that receives your data, and we never sell or share anything.
1. What the app stores on your phone
- Daily step totals, your daily goal, whether you reached it, and the screen time minutes you earned and used each day, to show your stats and streaks.
- Your settings: step goal, steps per unlock, lock mode, theme and notification choices.
- The apps you chose to lock.
This data is stored only on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
2. What we do not collect
- Your email address, phone number, name, contacts, photos or location.
- Which apps you lock or open. On iPhone, Apple's Screen Time system only gives the app anonymous tokens for the apps you pick. On Android, the list of locked apps and their usage time stay on your phone.
- Anything you see or type on screen.
- Advertising identifiers. The app has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- Payment details. StepKey Pro is bought through Google Play or the App Store, which handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We never see your card or billing details. Whether Pro is active is checked on your phone with the store.
3. Motion and fitness data
Steps are counted on your phone by its motion sensor (the step counter sensor on Android, Apple Core Motion on iPhone). Step data stays on your device and is never used for advertising. We do not read Google Health Connect or Apple Health.
4. Android Accessibility service
On Android, StepKey uses the Accessibility service only to detect when an app you chose to lock comes to the foreground, so it can show the "walk to unlock" screen. It does not read screen content, does not record what you type, and does not send any information off your phone. The app asks for your consent before you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in Android Settings.
5. Apple Screen Time (iPhone)
On iPhone, StepKey uses Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls) to lock the apps you pick. Apple gives the app only anonymous tokens for those apps, and they never leave your device.
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, reminders (for example "your apps lock in 1 minute" or a morning reminder) are created on your phone. We do not use push notification services.
7. Sharing
We do not receive your data, so we do not sell, rent or share it with anyone.
8. Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings > Delete my data. This permanently deletes your step history and settings from your phone and unlocks your apps. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data.
9. Children
StepKey is not directed at children under 13.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
